Ziplining in 1.5 days

My bad. Sorry I haven't updated since I last left for an excursion....and yeah, I'm heading off to Monteverde (beautiful and green mountain, as the name would suggest) tomorrow. And I am going ziplining there! Whoohoo!!! =D

Annddd pictures from Arenal are up on Facebook! It was gorgeous there...had an amazing view from the front and back of my hotel room, and I could actually see STARS at night! First time in a longgg time. And set against the backdrop of a dark volcano at night? Incredible. And all the city lights in the distance actually sparkling...that was beautiful, too.

I went horseback riding Saturday morning. It was the first time I'd actually ridden a horse on my own, not that it was super difficult on my very tranquil horse (named Chichi heheh). In fact, she (?) was so slow I had to give her a few love taps. But when I did that, she REALLY sprang into a gallop. I do admit there were times where I was really hoping she wouldn't slip down these ravines, or slide down a steep hill we were climbing. Hahah. It was a lot of fun though, and the views were amazing.

I swam around in their regular pool and also in their hot springs pool....and also went down the water slides....yes, it was a nice hotel/resort/spa......apparently the hotel at Monteverde is even better.....yeah, I don't think I'll ever stay at such nice hotels again in my life, unless I work for a company that's bankin' (doubtful) or unless I'm on my honeymoon (maybe).

I don't really remember what happened this week--it flew by so fast. Mm okay, I remember going to a tutoring session Monday morning for an hour to just talk. That was really good. In Spanish I mean. I was a little encouraged tonight when I Skyped home and my little sister (and my dad) had a bit of trouble understanding me (she's studied Spanish longer than I have; my dad had no clue what was going on haha). I mean as in my accent was getting better or I was talking faster...not that I didn't make any sense heheh.

Wednesday night, I went to go see X-Men with a couple of friends. Did I already mention that movie tickets are half-off on Wednesdays here? Only $2.50 USD! It was pretty good--it made me want to see the rest of the X-Men movies, which I have not seen.

I am now a regular at this tiny empanada restaurant next to the university (did I already say this before, too?). Literally, there is a squarish bar with 7-8 stools around 3 sides of it, and the cooking equipment in the middle, and that's it. But oh man the empanadas there are DELICIOUS (and cheap!). The girl that I usually see (Silvia) cooks the empanadas right in front of you, so they are literally burning hot when you get them. I didn't even like empanadas until I discovered this place.

And classes have been good....nothing new to say here; just been working away.

The cultural activity for tomorrow morning is a visit to the Children's Museum (Museo de los Niños) in San José. I've heard that it is one of the coolest museums there, so I hope it's true, and I'm looking forward to it regardless (even though I will have to get up at 6am to pack, eat, and get there on time). Oh, that's another thing--the timing here in Costa Rica. The sun rises really early and also sets early. So I've been waking up at 6am or 7am every day, but it feels normal (assuming I manage to get to bed around 9-11pm the night before, which happens more than one would think).

I miss Rice. I miss being a part of O-week. But better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all! Or is that true? Haha. I think its veracity depends on which side of that statement you are on. Because on the flip side, ignorance is bliss! And so on and so forth. ANYWAY. It is maybe a little too late to be having these philosophical ponderings.

So pura vida ;) until Sunday or the next time I get on this blog, whichever comes first (I do believe that is a logical fallacy, but whateverrrrr. I am also less sassy in Spanish than I am in English. Eheh).

Buenas noches!
