- Watched the midnight showing of Harry Potter 7, Part 2 in 3D!!!! Amazing....got a bit lost in the dark, dark mall with all the friends afterwards, but it was a small adventure in and of itself trying to get out.
- Visited Parque Diversiones (Costa Rica's only amusement park) this past Sunday. It is way, way more mellow than anything in the USA, but it was still fun (pics later). Unfortunately, we got rained out at about 1pm (got soaked so fast...only other time that has happened to me was right before the water balloon fight of Beer Bike my freshman year). Fortunately, we get free passes the next time we go =].
- This weekend (is a long weekend, since it is a holiday on Monday) I am going to Tortuguero, where I will be able to see turtles at night (or at least, I hope, but it is high season right now!), and then Puerto Viejo, where I will go on a chocolate tour (I will actually help make chocolate from...scratch, or almost scratch) and maybe take a Caribbean cooking class. Both places are on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, and I've been wanting to visit that side since it is so different (people-wise, anyway; it is mostly black people, whereas people from other parts look Hispanic or even white). They also speak a Creole type language, sometimes called "Make-I-tell-you" since many of their sentences start that way. It is with these people that I would be taking the cooking class =]. Also! I made the hostel, turtle night tour, and early morning wild animal tour reservations over the phone today! Maybe that is silly, but I am so happy that I can carry a semi-important conversation in Spanish...
- We acted out a brilliant (w/ a Brit. accent) skit of Cenicienta (or Cinderella) in class today. I was a ratoncito (mouse). We also recorded the whole thing...so the video might or might not be up on Facebook later heheh.
- Bought a pair of sandals today (OKAY this summer has made me realize how much I love sandals that strap to your feet and are good for walking, unlike flip-flops which are unhealthy for your ankles and not good for walking) for only 2500 colones...which = $5. It was a surprise even to me, because I didn't realize they were on sale until I paid for them! Happiness.
- I have started drinking coffee almost every morning here (this is a trend of only the past two weeks, when I have slept only 4-6 hours almost every week day. During the school year...okay, but summer? Need caffeine). I have discovered that not only am I able to drink it black, but that is now also my preferred way of drinking coffee in the mornings. My host mom and housemate think I'm crazy.
- Further happiness--I downloaded the iOS 3.1.1 software update for my first generation iPod touch. Actually, this is also a bit of a ¡Qué lástima! situation, since it was actually my brother's iPod, but (long story short) he got the newer iPod touch that came with my Mac two summers ago, but I won't get a new iPod since Apple isn't doing the iPod touch + Mac deal this summer (and my brother is getting a Mac). Anyway, the software cost about $5, and it is so great! (I realized I couldn't download any apps to the 1G, and I wanted to get the word game Ann Chou and I played during a plenary session at CGIU since it was so entertaining, and yeah...that is the underwhelming and laughable reasoning behind all of this. It is called Word Shaker Lite. Although I'm not sure that's the version she had.) This new technology makes me appreciate touch-screens so much more; I was really missing my beautiful Classic 40-gig iPod from 7th grade....(and in case you were wondering, my dad got that for free from his work heheh). I love the click wheel.
Sooooo yeah. I only have 2.5 more weeks here. That is so crazy. I miss Houston though, so I will be excited to go back =].
