Plano, Part 2

This is ridiculous, me posting this much. It must be the novelty of starting a new blog again.

"In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made;
without him nothing was made that has been made.
In him was life,
and that life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
The true light that gives light to everyone
was coming into the world.
He was in the world,
and though the world was made through him,
the world did not recognize him.
He came to that which was his own,
but his own did not receive him.
Yet to all who did receive him,
to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God--
children born not of natural descent,
nor of human decision or a husband's will,
but born of God.
The Word became flesh,
and made his dwelling among us.
We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son,
who came from the Father,
full of grace and truth."

John 1:1-14

This passage was read tonight at the Good Friday service at Zephan's church, and it was really cool how they read it (it was on a screen with a voice projecting out and really cool graphics that really emphasized the words). As this was also the passage Urbana 09 was based off of, it has entrenched itself in my heart in a special way. John was a wonderful writer, and I have emphasized the words that just really pull this passage together. The format I used here is the format Urbana 09 provided us in the manuscript study (which I need to review and go over with the person I wrote on my hand at the beginning of the conference), and I really like how clean and simple it is. Indeed, it is amazing to remember and continue to experience that there was a light, the light, that came into this world, and died for us.

Full of grace and truth. Greg Jao made a very good point during Urbana--something to the effect of, "If we know anything about John as a writer, it was that he was a very careful writer. So that saying Jesus was full of grace and truth, we should note that grace comes first." It should be a lesson in how we conduct ourselves, especially in the view of non-Christians. Teach with gentleness and respect, yes?

Anyway, this blog was kind of all over the place. But it brings me great joy and awe in loving God's word--John 1:1-14 is wonderful <3. It's almost like music when I look at it.
