This past week has been crazy. Like, chaotic, hectic, can't-even-explain crazy. There have only been a few times in college and law school where I have consciously realized how exceedingly stressed out I was due to the circumstances, and this was (and currently still is?) one of those times. (I think most times any academics-related stress I have isn't enough for me to notice.)
However! (1) Prayer is good, (2) things tend to turn out okay, and (3) friends are good.*
(*Special note on part 3: It always seems to surprise me a little how much I enjoy being around or just hanging out with my law school friends during a break in the day. I don't necessarily know them all that well, but it's the same kind of feeling as when I was at Hanszen, except maybe slightly more snarky/cynical/sarcastic lol. I think part of it is that there is no expectation nor desire, necessarily, to talk about really deep things—like there kind of is in Christian circles—and so the whole atmosphere is more relaxed. There's a lot of joking around, and that's always really nice. Something else I realized and very much appreciate—there are a lot of classmates, relatively, that care enough to notice when I am not in class and pick up extra handouts for me, or update me on what happened, all independently of one another. I always feel a great sense of humility and gratefulness for such generosity, especially when it's coming from people I haven't known for very long, and/or don't know super well. Like, why? I always feel like I've never done anything to deserve these extra kindnesses. Regardless, it moves me deeply.)
Okay, so updates. I'm going home for Thanksgiving for almost the whole week. This will be the first time I'll be home for Thanksgiving since before leaving for college. And then finals start the week I get back....cry.
And then, unfortunately, I won't be returning to Indiana for winter break at all (AND THIS MAKES ME REALLY, REALLY SAD B/C I LOVE INDY) because my mom's company is partially sponsoring a trip to Cancun for its employees. Thus, I will be in Cancun for a week with my family, and then returning to Houston (and will currently be alone for New Year's.....lol sad).
I am still waiting to hear back from recent interviews about summer internships, but in the meantime, I will end on a happy note and say that I will be interning with a district judge at the federal district court in the spring! YAY!! I'm super, super excited about this, because the people I'll be working with are fun but diligent, and the judge is great, and I enjoy working/hands-on learning way more than sitting in a classroom. This will be for course credit too. Again, this is the one federal court in Houston, so it's the same one that I walked to from the USAO this past summer to sit in on court hearings and stuff. I'm assuming I'll get to see a lot of the AUSAs I worked with over the summer (b/c they're in that court all the time, b/c the buildings are so close, and b/c I will ask them to meet up), so I'm really excited about that! (And doubly so because I want to be an AUSA one day....)
Anyway. That is all for now!
excitingg! =) have a lovelyyyyy time at home this week!
